Mubadala Energy entered the U.S energy market with an acquisition of 24.1% in Caturus, the newly issued equity of Kimmeridge. The Integrated Natural Gas Platform aims to deliver responsibly-sourced, low-emission fuel to domestic and international markets.
Caturus is building the only independent, fully integrated natural gas and LNG export platform in the U.S. through two portfolio companies:
Caturus Energy
An upstream unconventional gas asset in the Eagle Ford, South Texas, tha produces 500 million cubic feet of gas equivalent per day, the development plans of reaching 1 billion cubic feet equivalent per day (Bcfe/d) by 2029.
It is one of the lowest-cost sources of natural gas in North America, strategically located near the U.S. Gulf Coast LNG infrastructure.
Commonwealth LNG
A pre-FID LNG liquefaction and export facility with a capacity of a 9.5 mtpa liquefied natural gas export terminal to be located near Cameron, Louisiana.
Commonwealth LNG most recently announced it has contracted Technip Energies to provide engineering, procurement and construction services to build its state-of-the-art facility and anticipates announcing final investment decision later this year.
This is a fully modularized, self-sufficient, and protected facility against U.S. Gulf Coast storms, with first LNG cargo expected in 2029.
